My tiny infant baby sister arrives today. Every time it surprises me that she’s infinitely wiser, more talented, and taller than myself (well, the height thing is actually measurable…it’s like an inch).
She’s been doing crafty things for me for many years and some of my favorite include t-shirt sketches she does. It’s NOT printing…she actually draws it on with some sort of miraculous permanent t-shirt pen. Here’s Grace and Tyrone wearing a t-shirt of her creation. Side note: He asked for something “nautical,” thinking he’d receive a sketch of a badass sailboat. Or even a mediocre-ass sailboat! Instead, he got a sea turtle…and he wears this at least once a week and primarily for “special occasions.”
It’s pretty amazing what she can do. I want her to work for Urban Outfitters or something, writing and designing their sarcastic graphic tees. Anyone know how to make this happen?!
That being said, I’ve decided to compile a list of crafts for her to do for me when she arrives in 1.5 hours. I’m a generous kind of sister (not to be read as a “kind of generous sister”).
- Finish the giant bicycle painting.
- Paint my shower curtain possibly to look like this Kraken one. I already bought a cotton waffle one on Amazon for $17. Laura says octopus are played out. To her I say, not yet.

Grace, I know you are on a plane and won’t read this until at least 4 seconds after landing, but you’ve been warned. Please purchase and consume several bottles of water and airport food. I won’t reimburse you, but I’ll feed you once you’re on the clock. Can’t wait to see you!
